2nd Hellenic Stroke School+: advancing cerebrovascular care in Athens
The 2nd Hellenic Stroke School+ will take place on 19–21 November 2026 at the Divani Caravel in Athens, expanding from acute ischaemic stroke to aneurysms, AVMs, vasculitides and venous disease through imaging sessions, live interaction and hands-on workshops. Dr Theodosios Tsinas serves on the organising committee and contributes as a recognised speaker and workshop instructor on neurointerventional devices.
BRAIN 2026: global neurovascular collaboration in London
BRAIN Conference returns to London from 7–9 December 2026 at Convene, 155 Bishopsgate. Three days bring together international neurovascular experts for scientific exchange, practical discussion and multidisciplinary collaboration.
ALICE 2026: live interventional neuroradiology in Essen
From 11–13 November 2026, the Advanced Live Interventional Course of Essen presents live treatment of complex aneurysms, AVMs and dural fistulas, alongside focused sessions on stroke thrombectomy, MMA embolisation, new devices and complication management.
CREST-2: carotid stenting for severe asymptomatic carotid stenosis
In 1,245 patients with at least 70% carotid stenosis and no recent symptoms, stenting plus intensive medical therapy reduced the 4-year primary-outcome rate to 2.8%, compared with 6.0% with intensive medical therapy alone. Periprocedural events still occurred, so individual selection, experienced operators and continued risk-factor control remain essential.
neuroRAD 2026: The future of neuroradiology in Mainz
The 61st DGNR annual meeting and 8th German Stroke School take place on 7–9 October 2026, with sessions on neurointervention, advanced imaging, AI and new CT technologies.
The inaugural Athens meeting brought radiologists, interventional specialists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neurologists and internists together, with particular emphasis on endovascular thrombectomy.
CSF leaks: when positional headache needs specialised imaging
The DGNR explains spontaneous intracranial hypotension, CSF–venous fistulas, specialised myelography and the evolving role of minimally invasive transvenous embolisation.
EMPROTECT: MMA embolisation after surgery for chronic subdural haematoma
In this 342-patient randomised trial, recurrence was 14.8% with particle MMA embolisation versus 21.0% with standard care, but the difference was not statistically significant. Patient selection and embolic technique remain important research questions.
ICARUS: urgent intracranial stenting after failed recanalisation
This ongoing international randomised trial plans to enrol 498 adults and compares early intracranial stenting with continued conventional endovascular therapy when ICAD-related large-vessel occlusion does not reopen after initial treatment.
